First off, let me say I have been proven wrong about blogs. With the latest two sites reviewed being blogs that I find very amusing and worthy of becoming a daily read, i am beginning to appreciate them. Here, at get the sugar, Justin acts as a video game/movie reviewer. Now dont be turned off by the idea. Judging by the layout, with a banner consisting of an uptight white-collared individual with an eyepatch, you can pretty much figure out this site is one to remember. Well, being a blogspot site, the layout is pretty much the missionary blog system. Clean layout with colors that mesh well, and a navigation bar that is easily managed and used. Not too much action there. What really pulls the overall layout out of the dirt is the images of the game cartridges and screen shots. Something about them makes the site attractive and makes its visitors want to read on. Content, content, content. Of course, in order to bring this site out of its blog-syndrome type of blandness is its content. On a gaming review website, you would probably expect a very mundane and specific rating and review system. Nope. Get the sugar gives you the reviews in a number of different, very entertaining, ways. If you are not in the middle of an interview with Abraham Lincoln speaking about a game, then you are probably hearing about the history of pinball in all its infamy. Its almost genius. What the hell, it is genius. The reviews are actually very informative. Again, the only problem I can come up with is the overall layout. A little tip to all the bloggers out there. DO NOT just use the templates given to you with your blogging program. CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE. The internet is great because everyone can have their own identity. You dont want the internet to become an army of blogs with the same exact layouts.
